Abstract

This article presents some reflections upon the social history of the language, by pointing out an analysis on Cratylus, by Plato. Taking into consideration that language is one of the fundamental problems in philosophy contemporary and, in Cratylus, Plato had already exposed his concern with the nature of the language, nothing is so more convenient than look for to search, in the misty incunabula of Greek philosophy, such question and its consequences, particulary about the relation name-knowledge-thing.
