Turismo doméstico, progresso e qualidade de vida
Abstract
The basis of this article is the fact that economic development by degrading the environment undermines progress and the quality of life present and future. This problem is also found in tourism activities which are expected to grow considerably in Brazil in the next few years. This article poses the following question: is it possible to harmonize the expansion of domestic tourism with the preservation of natural, cultural and social resources in touristic areas in order to achieve progress with quality of life for the present and future generations? We conclude that this adjustment, at least in tourism, which is technologically a less complex activity than industry and agriculture, could be achieved with a decentralized intersectorial partaking plan based on the principle of support capacity. The viability of this plan, on the other hand, foresees domestic political decisions and attitudes, wide programs of environmental awareness as well as attitudes to decrease urban stress and the need for searching “the green”.
