Da tempestade nos Lusíadas

Abstract

Our study is a comparison between the “tempest" - Canto VI from "Os Lusiadas"and the "storm" of the ancient epic poems "The Odyssey" and “The Aeneid”, We try to prove that, only in Camoes, from Baccus’ despair we can feel that phenomenon as a true fight between two enemies that intensify their forces alternatively. Here we show that the Portuguese navigators, in one only action, make the representative hero of the Poem evident, and acclaim him definitely as a hero of the Lusitanian epopee, in that classical conception of an epic hero.
