Abstract

The author makes the participation of the population of Emeralds (Ancient Santa Quitéria) stand out in the revolutionary movement of Minas in 1842. He focuses mainly the performance of Mrs. Ana Felipa de Santiago who should be fairly considered as one of the heroines of this revolution. He tells in details the incredible story of Colonel Antonio Nunes Galvão, a revolutionary leader, who came to die in secrecy, was buried as slave “Father Pedro” and the homage paid to him afterwards.
