Abstract

The notion of place in the Portuguese Language - Would it be Complement or Adjunct? - This work tries to analyse the notion of place considering the syntactic and semantic aspect in the Portuguese Language based on Charles J. Fillmore’s “Case Grammar”. This work also shows that the notion of place is always expressed as complement as well as an adjunct of verbs and nouns, through the following cases: - Locative, Source (of a place), Goal (to a place) and Itinerative, i.e. through syntactic relations in the deep structure of the Language.
