Abstract

The purpose od this article is to reflect on the protagonism of the black woman presente in the American fiction serial Insecure (launched in 2016) in seasons 1 and 2. The focus of the reflection will be the analysis of the insertion of a musical track, composed mostly by black rappers, songwriters and singers. The study was carried out through the analysis of the protagonists Issa Dee (Issa Rae) and Molly Carter (Yvonne Orji) and their main dramatic actions in each episode, in dialogue with music and musical score (which are used to narrate the episode, express feelings, thoughts). The theoretical framework of this research is the aspect of black feminism in contemporary North American and Brazilian currents and the methodology used consists of film-sound analysis.
