Vigotski's Historical-Cultural Theory presents several important concepts that contribute to human learning. In this bibliographical study, the objective is to analyze and relate the concepts of mediation, sign and language, higher psychological functions and zone of proximal development (ZPD) with the video lessons, which can be used as a methodological resource in the educational context. Initially, each of the four concepts mentioned is presented, to then relate them to the video lessons. It is evident that the use of technologies at school, more specifically video classes, is understood as forms of mediation and differentiated language, which contributes to expanding the higher psychological functions and the ZPD of students.
