Abstract

The present article has the objective of analyzing the influence of the participation in the PIBID for the choice of a teaching career. To this end, questionnaires were applied to former scholarship students graduating from a degree course in Chemistry at a Federal University in northern Paraná. The link to the questionnaire was sent via e-mail to 41 former students of the course in question, of which 33 responded. The questionnaire was composed of open and closed questions about: the time of permanence in the Program; the influence of the participation in the choice of a teaching career; positive and negative points of the Program; the experience and the contribution of the PIBID for the professional performance of these former fellows. In this article, we propose to analyze the answers of the participants to a single question, which refers to the student's motivation to follow a teaching career. The data were analyzed according to the Content Analysis procedures, and the 62 Analysis Units could be grouped into 5 emerging categories, as follows Conviviality in the school context; Experience of the teaching profession; Stimulus to the teaching career; Improvement of initial training; Disinterest. Through them, it was possible to highlight the influence of the PIBID on the former fellows' choice to pursue a teaching career.
