Abstract

The paper presents a reflection on the production of communities of players of the genre MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena), having the company Riot Games and its title League of Legends as object of study. For that, it uses bibliographic research in periodicals and considerations about a specific documentary about the company. Based on theorists such as Huizinga and Caillois, who present considerations about games, and Martin Buber, Edgar Morin and Benedict Anderson, who discuss community concepts, the work points out how the construction of these gamer communities approaches the idea of nation, being a product and therefore distant from the idea of Buber’s community.
