Abstract

The objective of this work is to bring together game studies and communication from reflections on digital games as objects of research, discussing game analysis and its communicational character. By bringing the two areas together, we understand the digital game as a technical artifact inseparable from the individual and also as a communicational object endowed with specific particularities, with an impact on culture and society. Through an exploratory bibliographic research, we concluded that video games can benefit from their proximity to communication for a distinct epistemological, theoretical and methodological elaboration, contributing to strengthen research in communication and game studies in Brazil.
