Abstract

This article presents the results of a study that investigated the impact of the use of digital touch screen technologies on the learning of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), through the development of an educational application focused on an emotion reading game. Adopting a playful and dynamic approach, the study explored how technology can be integrated into education to support the socio-affective development of these individuals. The application was implemented in a basic education institution in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, and the results indicated that children and young people with ASD interact more effectively with digital language than with analog language. The study also showed that these technologies can play an important role in the learning process, stimulating interaction and promoting mediations that go beyond the digital environment
