Abstract

This study developed, validated, and implemented a teaching sequence for media and information literacy for 5th grade elementary school students, using the Pa-dlet® platform as a technological mediation tool. The research, of a qualitative nature and designed as participatory research, was based on the 4MAT learning cycle and the principles of Universal Design for Learning. The teaching sequence was implemented over three weeks in a public school in Bragança Paulista, in the interior of São Paulo, using technological resources and active methodologies. The results demonstrated high student engagement, an improvement in the ability to critically evaluate online information, and the effective inclusion of students with specific educational needs. The practical applicability of the developed skills was observed, with students questioning information of dubious appearance that they also began to recognize outside the school environment. The study contributes as a replicable model for integrating media and information literacy into the curriculum of the final years of elementary school I, aligned with the guidelines of the National Common Curricular Base and sustainable development goals 4 and 12, by ensuring equitable and quality education that provides multiple forms and means of learning for all and sustainable production and consumption patterns.
